Ceremonies and Honors
HONOR ROLL AND PRINCIPAL’S LIST
1st-5th grade students are eligible. A “D”, “F”, “N”, or “U” in any subject areas disqualifies a student from receiving Honor Roll and Principal’s List. Principal’s List: students who achieve and maintain a 4.0 average (all A’s) for the 9 weeks.
Honor Roll: students who earn and maintain at least a 3.0 average (“B”) for the 9 weeks.
BUCKET-FILLER OF THE MONTH
At Bayou Vista Elementary we encourage students to show kindness, respect, compassion, and helpfulness towards their classmates as well as school staff. Although we have many students who are good school citizens, the bucket-filler of the month will exhibit outstanding school citizenship. This student goes above and beyond what is expected of them. Each month, one student from each grade level will be chosen by the teachers to be the grade-level bucket-filler of the month.
END OF THE YEAR CEREMONIES
Fifth grade students will have an awards ceremony during the last week of school. Students who maintain an “A” average (Principal’s List) for the entire school year will receive a Principal’s List Award. Students who maintain a “B” average (Honor Roll) the entire school year will also receive an award. Other awards deemed appropriate by the classroom teacher will also be given out.
Students in first-fourth grade will not have a ceremony. Any awards will be given out during classroom ceremonies.
Pre-K and Kindergarten students do not receive Honor Roll and Principal’s List Awards. Awards for their accomplishments will be given at the end of the year ceremony.
