Parent & Family Engagement

We have lots going on at BVES to get involved and engaged in your child's learning! Our PTO meets once a month here at school, Mrs. Daira Moffett and Mrs. Kayla Perry are in charge. You may reach out to them for more information.

Our first big Family Engagement is Gumbo with grans, Monday, Sept. 14, at the BV Community Center, where our amazing cafeteria ladies make the BEST gumbo for us to enjoy with our grandparents at our own little Fais do do! Students in PE learn a few cajun/country line dances to dance along with their grandparents.

The last week in October will be Red Ribbon Week, where we dress up, have a pep rally, and do the six-pillar shuffle to remind us that "Your Future is Key, Be Drug Free!" Oct. 29, PTO sponsors our Fall Carnival during specials, so sign up to help out! On the 30th, Pre-K & K have trunk or treat at the front of school with their families!

In November, we begin Pajama Tuesdays for $2 Pajama Day, and on Nov. 11, our school teams up with Berwick Elementary & Berwick Junior High to honor our Veterans at BJHS with a beautiful program. Then, on Nov. 19, we'll have our Thankful for Parents Picnic!

Every Tuesday in December is also $2 Pajama Day, Santa comes to take pics with our kids on Dec. 4, and our PTO will have a Winter Carnival during specials for us on Dec. 18. 

January 21, we'll have a family night at 5:30, the 100th day of school coming up, and Beta Induction for our worthy 4th & 5th graders  on Jan. 22 at 1:30!

In February, we'll have a Mardi Gras Parade, Jr. Beta Convention, and on Feb. 26, a Black History Presentation.

March will be National Beta Week with dress-up days, our annual Kids Heart Challenge for the American Heart Association, another PTO Family night March 5, spring pictures, and we'll have a PTO Egg Hunt at the end of the month!

April 2, we'll honor World Autism Day by wearing blue clothes and blue glow bracelets April 5.

Teacher Appreciation Week and many end of year ceremonies will be in May.
