Title I School
Title I School
Bayou Vista Elementary is a TITLE I school. You might ask, what is TITLE I?
- Title I is the largest federal aid program for our nation’s schools. It provides educational and supplemental services to meet the needs of children in selected attendance areas. It serves millions of children who attend public and private schools.
- The funds come from the federal level, then the state, then the district, and finally to the Title I schools. Title I funds support additional teachers and paras, staff trainings, intervention programs, and supplementary resources to name a few examples. Title I also supports homeless, migrant, and English Learner families.
- Our school has a Title I Schoolwide Plan, which outlines specific uses of Title I funds to reach the goal of helping children meet high curriculum and performance standards. Once approved, a copy of the plan will be available in the front office for viewing.
- Under Title I, parents have the right to know the following: Parent and Family Engagement Policy, Teacher Qualifications, Student Achievement Level, and Title I School Level Programs/Activities.
- As a parent, you are part of the Title I team. For more information, visit the St. Mary Parish district website – departments – Title I. Thank you for being a part of our Title I family.
